Chinese New Year is an annual celebration marking the start of the year in the Chinese calendar and is a public holiday in the following countries: Brunei, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Macau, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Suriname, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam.
The official holiday will be held on 28th January to 4th February 2025, during which many companies will remain closed for a week or longer.
Please note that preparations for Chinese New Year will start at least couple of weeks in advance with factories slowing down and shutting operations, allowing workers to travel back to their hometowns.
Chinese New Year impacts the capacity from and to China and the Far East. It may also result in delays, cancellations and higher rates.
While we work as normal here in UK, the below is what should be expected and taken into account when planning the shipments to/from Far East in next few weeks:
• Delayed collections and deliveries, limited vehicle availability due to driver shortages
• While ports remain open during CNY, they run at limited capacity with limited staff
• Freight Rates may increase due to increased demand
• Limited Customer Service & Support – limited staff or complete shutdowns result in delayed or no communication during the holidays
During the CNY holidays it may be difficult for us to connect with Chinese suppliers and other service providers, but rest assured we are working with our partners to minimise the disruption. However, delays are to be expected.
If you require an Express Service to/out of the Far East, we will be happy to help you get the goods moving before CNY.
Please contact us and we will be delighted to assist you.
