Leanne Bruce, marketing and sales support at Sonihull, received free export training from Independent Freight Solutions (IFS) as part of the Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce’s Exporting Starts Here programme.
Headquartered in Coventry, Sonihull provides innovative ultrasonic antifouling technology to marine clients across the globe, safely preventing the buildup of algae, weeds and molluscs on ocean-going vessels and structures like ships and wind farms. It also cuts fuel consumption and maintenance costs for owners without harming the environment.
The support Leanne received was delivered by Neil Lewis, branch manager at IFS, who covered topics including incoterms, commodity codes, rules of origin, import and export declarations, customs procedures and dangerous goods.
Leanne said: “The training Neil provided was incredible – his knowledge of all things trade is astounding and I’d recommend any business to take advantage of the support on offer.
“We ship a range of products across the globe and are engaging with new markets on a regular basis, so it was extremely valuable to receive expert insight into the processes and restrictions certain goods are subject to and the best way to keep on top of them.
“As someone who’s primary role is in sales, it has been incredibly useful to expand my knowledge of the global trade side of things.
“Mainly, it’s to help provide important context to the steps we have to take, and the things we should look out for, before goods reach our clients.
“It’s been extremely valuable for me professionally.”
