Customs Declaration Service has now been delayed further for Exports

Dear Valued Customers,

We would like to inform you about an important update regarding the implementation of the Customs Declaration Service (CDS) for Export Declarations.

Previously, we communicated that all export declarations would be required to be made through the CDS starting from Thursday, November 30, 2023, and that the old system CHIEF would be shut down. However, after careful consideration and in consultation with industry trade partners, HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has decided to introduce a staged approach to ensure a smooth transition for all businesses.

While there is still a possibility that we may begin making some export declarations through the CDS system before Thursday, November 30, 2023, the new deadline for all other export declarations to be made on the CDS system is now Saturday, March 30, 2024. This extended timeline aims to provide businesses with more time to prepare and allows HMRC to thoroughly test the IT systems for a seamless transition.

You may receive other correspondence on this rest assured you do not need to take any action and we will keep you updated on any further developments.
